Here’s a throwback picture!

Zhan and his doll/ancestral sculpture

So, this is a picture made about…hmm…two or so years ago. I don’t know when I drew it…but considering that the style looks long and the character has a big nose, I’d say 2020-2021.

It is a picture of Zhan with an ancestral doll that I haven’t created a name for. It is powered by a button and plays music that sounds like a music box (it kind of is but I don’t know).

It is one of the objects an Adis uses to get to their micosi, i.e. dream-state. They press on the music their familial ancestor crafted for them and they appear. (There are other ways, but this is one I drew out). This one is supposed to mimic a figure—that works like an orisha—to sing to bring comfort. It kinda isn’t a doll but that’s what I called it. I guess it would be a sculpture or a music box. 🤷🏾

Anywho, this specific object is made by a distant ancestor (like a many great grandpa) named Hadorinal who passed it down to everyone else in his family and it got to Zhan after the dad stupidly gifted to his mom (because he liked her) not realizing she’d have his spawn.

In the micosi, Zhan usually reads the books prayed in by other family members (the spirits can be given food, books, so on) or he talks to the ancestor, Hadorinal, who I mentioned earlier. He has the ability to speak Adis (due to his father Lupita) so that’s who he talks to and he will talk to him about everything in his life.

Now, that micosi (I’ve painted the colors but not drawn it to look as is) has a very 2D appearance to it and also the characters rock as if they’re in a video game. The composed ancestral music constantly plays over and over (unless the person is intercultural with a culture with a quiet micosi or one that plays for a short while) and the characters, if able, may dance to it. The backgrounds are usually vibrant and have many shapes and have varieties of realism. Some of the characters, like Zhan, draw in the style of their micosi (albeit, not well, because Zhan cannot draw😂) while others don’t so much.

I probably would redesign the figure so it’s easier to draw and as well, make it look more creative (not the original isn’t, it just needs a different form). I think I may change the size too. [I have a bit more knowledge on designs after seeing some African statues, sculptures, and masks, so I have some ideas!]

Have a nice day and stay healthy and hydrated!

In all seriousness

Okay, y’all. So, basically, I’m forcing myself out of my funk. As you know from my last blog post written in pure rage. 😬😓 (give me a break, I was reading about stuff to improve my art. Improvement has always been the soul crusher in my life)

I absolutely refuse to write long posts and pages about my concultures. I believe I’d rather like to split them up. It is tedious to write about every single character in a long post only for that post to never be looked at again even if I write about said characters. I have no idea if links work for people! So, I rather just split them up into informationals.

I am trying my hardest to communicate with you all the best way I can, but communication has never been my strong suit. Honesty is great too, but I’m trying to give relevant honesty and not honesty that gets on people’s nerves. I like to pretend I’m a good person, but I doubt I am.

I hate to post more than once per day, but it is what it is. I still have more to post and more to talk about.

Drawing can be rewarding but it’s also something I hide from at times. Sometimes I hide from putting characters out here. I mean, they are as they are.

Anyway, it was nice talking to you. Happy End of February. See you. Make sure to get good rest and stay hydrated and healthy.

Burn out

A flame was lit,
it was lit with a match.
Lit so it could keep the group warm.
But it was short-lived.

The flame couldn’t keep the two warm,
and since it couldn’t, the group froze.
They didn’t know what to do anymore.

I don’t know really what to say…I received the big ol burnout. Always at this time of the year for classes. I moved my art supplies closer to me so I can still do them, but the passion is dead.

Why?

Because I’m struggling drawing bodies. It doesn’t make me want to stop drawing, it just makes me sad and not want to draw. I don’t have a particular style I’m going for, nor am I going for realism, but they’re just not going how I want. I really want to draw bodies for my characters, but failing is stressing me out. Failing isn’t scary, but it’s disappointing.

As well, it feels so stupid to post time and time because I’m not sure if I’m posting anything of value. I literally cannot bring myself to elaborate more on my ocs. 😔 Not because they’re bad, but I’m an artist and I assume people want to see visual art and not blocks of text. Anytime it’s about a character there’s so much more interactions but I don’t want to keep blasting people with on and on character profiles and no interactions with characters or anything, but I don’t feel like I can draw enough and I bit out more than I can chew. My art style fluctuates in quality too often.

I literally (as I’m not figuratively, literally!) almost had a meltdown over this whole thing. This is out of my comfort zone. Drawing two people together and making them look like they’re apart of the same picture. I know I should do it more, but this picture is exhausting and I got Noje’s dorsal part incorrect. (Should be flipped—that’s my bad)

Both of them look stiff and stale. Feyondo is a pain for me to draw as well. Any time I draw him, I believe a little part of me dies. His design has to look like that though because! It cannot look any other way or that’s not him!

But I know I’m burned out because I’m hiding from doing anything. Even the stuff I love because it looks terrible to me.

However!

The good news with all this is that if you’re turned off by your art, it means you might be improving and gaining insight that you need to change something or study something else, but also take a break.☺️ I’m not going to take a physical break just yet, because I have assignments to do, but I will be taking a break.

I will be taking my disgust with the way I draw bodies and the stiffness of figures (which usually isn’t that much of a problem, I just kinda want them to not be too janky). As well as draw two or more people interacting with each other.😮‍💨😭

As well, don’t forget to stay hydrated!

Identity Politics and stress

The older I get and the more I get into political issues, the more frustrated I get and the more things bug me or don’t feel worth it to talk about. One of them is identity politics. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel like they’re bad or anything, I just find them to be stressful and responses and anger from people are difficult to help or cope with. I don’t think anyone wants to purposely be offensive or make everyone uncomfortable, and for me…I don’t run on spite. At all.

I understand that I’m speaking US politics, so if you aren’t from the US, don’t worry. It’s just not your politics (but you may subscribe to them.)

So, what I mean is that some of my characters go under different brackets of LGBT and queer identities. Some are easier to explain and some aren’t. I don’t want to ever feel like I’m pushing the politics down people’s throats or forcing them to see something they don’t want to see…

The thing about identity, is that that’s the driving force of a lot of people’s personalities and nurture. For example, I’m a Black American. It doesn’t define my personality in a way that makes me act a particular way, but it adds nuances to my actions. For example, if you look at my characters and how they’re designed (I believe), you may be able to tell. You may not, oh well. It gives a big outlook on people’s artwork. I’m also in the B and T region in the LGBT, this affects my characters. Some of them are trans, some of them are cis. Some are straight, gay, bisexual, or some kind of nuance.

Another identity politic is neurodivergency and mental illness. This one is a lot more complex and controversial. Some of the characters go through various different traumatic experiences and events in their lives and some of them are just born different.

I needed a picture to post on here and don’t feel like posting new art. She is not in the LGBT at all, she’s just cute.😂 The closer up you see this picture, the more visible the erased pictures are. I also always managed to leave erasures on my sheet any time I take a picture. So goofy.🤪

I want y’all to know that at a time in my life, I was very concerned with representation and identity and trying to do representation the best way possible and get everyone in, but now in my life my characters are written as they are. Their identities are as they are and they’re important.

I am aware none of y’all asked for this post, but it’s literally been a thing stuck in my head for hours on hours and days on days.

How do I acknowledge my characters for how they are? I understand that people could be offended and will be offended, but how do I write and explain these characters in a way that isn’t preachy, strange, or awkward?

I’m not going to write a list saying all my LGBT characters or explain the fantasy human races because firstly, that’s a lot of work, and secondly I don’t think that’s necessary. You’ll see more interaction posts with characters and maybe I’ll feel comfortable enough to write about them.

I’m not shy at all, but I get nervous and frustrated and I’m still trying to get rid of my SM personality and people pleasing tendencies. It’s like me getting uncomfortable writing in other languages because there’s usually an identity tied underneath it and personality and culture tied underneath that I feel like I’m impeding on. It’s ridiculous because so many people with different cultures and backgrounds write in English, but I still feel like a bad person doing it. For example, if you don’t know what I’m talking about. Spanish. I’m learning Spanish, and I feel like I’m impeding on Spanish speakers cultures and identities by writing stories and content in Spanish—even though I’m not writing about any ethnic groups or culture or anything. It goes into the other languages I’m trying to learn. (and this has nothing to do about cultural appropriation, I’m not whining about that.)

Anyway, I’ll see y’all! Thank you for listening.

Story for y’all

Y’all, I’m feeling stressed out and today, so I’m going to post, but I’ll just give y’all a written out story. Hope you like it, I’m an visual artist before a literati or a writer.😣

As well, some of the stuff here is cultural specific and language specific and since I’m monolingual and unable to speak anything other than English, I will just use English to express their language. Bear with me.

(As well, how my character’s talk is how they talk, I do not talk like this. Thank you.😉)

Left to Right: Atane/ (I don’t have established spellings yet but his name is like Ankweda /ɑ̃.kʷe.ɾə/ [un-kweh-ra but say it like a d if you’re from the US and if you’re Spanish speaking say it like the end of nadar. I’m not sure about other languages, but it’s basically a tap trill]but I’m not a fan of the spelling) and Noshili/Tatmtar

Tatmtar and Ankweda are sitting together on the couch. Tatmtar is sitting with herbal on their hand and thinking about absolutely nothing like usual with a movie on. Ankweda is looking around at random objects in Tatmtar’s family home and gets curious. They pick up some things that Tatmtar confiscates and puts back away causing them to get bored and try to chat.

“Hey, Tatm,” Ankweda said feeling anxious to talk. “You invited me over to hang out, but we aren’t talking…so, are we watching stuff on the monitor together or are we talking?”

Tatmtar sighed and flipped their hair and pushed it back behind their ear with a quick movement. They had very dark black hair that in some lighting looked very black the point it broke reality and other times was so black it shined purple.

“Why I got to talk to you for?” Tatmtar asked aggressively. “You can’t just enjoy my company?”

Ankweda rubbed his neck and did an uncomfortable chuckle; he watched Tatmtar sip their tea. Ankweda didn’t want to watch the movie on the monitor and in fact, he didn’t like Tatmtar’s choices much and thought they had poor taste in films.

“Tatmtar, I enjoy your company a lot,” Ankweda replied, putting his arm around Tatmtar. “But, it would be even better if we talked instead of just sit around. Why don’t we talk about the person on the wall?”

Tatmtar was fuming with anger and frustration. They wanted to watch the movie, not chat! They glared and side-eyed Ankweda. They thought Ankweda rambled too much about nothing and just wanted to be near them without talking.

They groaned and rolled their eyes again and put their tea on the floor and pouted.

“Damn, boy,” Tatmtar fussed. “For what?! I literally don’t want to hear you ramble. I love you and all, dude, but shit…why can’t you just shut the hell up and watch the damn movie?! For fuck’s sake!”

Ankweda felt very uncomfortable and didn’t feel angry but he was mildly scared. Tatmtar ignored them and pouted. Ankweda sighed and sat closer to them and just glanced on the monitor for a second and laid his head on Tatmtar’s lap and played games on the monitor on his necklace. He twisted his little, black ringlets with his fingers and thought he’d ask again in a minute.

Ideas for stylization

As you know, I’m practicing on stylizing and I spoke about the frustrations of styling characters and leaving out features to make the drawing process faster. I did basically a sequential outline on how I want the characters to move or whatever it’s a struggle still, but less of a struggle. The characters here are in their late twenties but you wouldn’t know that because it’s hard to discern their age (I mean, I struggle with that in general) and give them a defining quality. Some people know how to make eyes look so beautiful and uniquely drawn with beautiful expressions. I can give expressions but the eyes are kinda not giving.

Anyway, the drawing inconsistencies are laziness and impatience. It was truly a headache to draw it this way, but it wasn’t terrible.

On the image above, there are two characters—Neloni/Damijo and Sadorno/Madenna. They’re getting married. This scene is before the wedding. If you can’t read my handwriting, let me know. Anyway, they’re a hot mess. I wanted to capture their typical expressions and how the characters move. Damijo fidgets and rocks a lot when he moves and is known to pace and not stand still. Sadorno is a very internal person and her movements are more stiff but dramatic—especially when she’s in her angry or guilt tripping mode. She’s swift and sharp.

I’ll show you further why it’s difficult for me to simplify characters—the point I made last time I post.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Fueling my excitement!

Hi!!!!

I’m so excited that school is starting back up again for me! I’ve made a palette and collected my ideas for my new projects. I will still take out my time to post on here.

Here’s my palette! It’s not a diverse or “useful” palette but its fun to paint with. I don’t like painting with things just because they’re useful and realistic. I like painting with stuff because it’s fun and interesting. Figuring out what is interesting and nice to me is what I prefer.

I also am still trying to figure out places to post a comic/sequential art without having to worry about it being digital only. I don’t know that many and I still have to figure out what is the best site.

I’m also really really excited for some new purchases and mixtures and hope they do well.

Sorry about my handwriting. Here’s Noshili and Atane meeting each other.

Anyway, I’m trying to find a convenient style for making comics. I get tired easily and when I plan stuff, I have to do it immediately or there’s a chance I won’t get to it after a while. So! I’m trying to simplify. The easier part is that it’s easy to make silhouettes and shapes with my characters, the difficult part is abstracting them and capturing their age.

A lot of my characters vaguely have very similar features and the things I’m taking away from them to abstract them are their defining features. For example, Noshili, and two characters Neloni and Nadoni. They have different lips but their eyes are exactly the same as they’re all related. They all have different postures and stances and different skin colors and hair but it would be very hard to capture that without seeing their whole face. I know it’s not gonna be that big of a deal, but I don’t want to get made fun of for same face syndrome!

As for other qualities, eh. I think they’ll be fine. I just have to work on gestures and showing emotions.

It’s not on watercolor paper but I am not a purist so I don’t care.

I’ve also been testing acrylics (not even appropriate ones—oops!) to try out with watercolors and they’re honestly the best. The thing is, they add a texture to the watercolors but when they’re thinned down and don’t have that nasty plastic flavor to it, they actually are able to have watercolors be painted on top. They aren’t resoluble though so while they can be lifted while wet, they’re not going to rewet and you can’t lift afterwards. It kinda solves my glazing problem to an extent. I want to do watercolor portraits that have vague qualities to old master paintings or have that energy but nothing is similar to it. These help a lot. I’ve also found a deep love for ultramarine. My heart and soul go to ultramarine (for now) and I love how it looks. If you know me, I used to hate royal blue and colors that look like it (not to anything that has to do with sports teams or anything, just hated it) but watercolors made me love it.

There are some colors that are perfect for being the main focus in paintings and that’s ultramarine blue and violet right now for some. As of now, I try to do focal points with colors that are important to each character. For example, Noje is a big fan of yellow so if I had her on a painting, that would be her focal point, but if I had Feyondo on there, his focal point would be blue.

The reason why I don’t elaborate sometimes on colors because they change and typically when it comes to some characters and their “soulmates” they always have complementary colors on the additive spectrum. However, with paints, that’s not additive and is more subtractive so these can change. I do not have an exact color for them, just a color family. It has something to do with their dreamstate/micosi /mɨ.kɔ.si/.

I am so excited to share more with y’all about more stuff!☺️ As well, my wattpad account is on my homepage. 🙂

Another study to see how much I can simplify. It was kinda difficult drawing these characters fast as possible but it wasn’t difficult to get their energy and movements as well as line qualities. The actual look is a little 😬. As well, this is Noshili and Atane again.

Small story

Oh, it looks like everyone is standing there around us…um. I had a great time at concert! I can’t believe you took me out to see my favorite artist! Wow! You must love me, huh. Thank you. Um. Well.

*singing*

🎶there once was no noise...
or I heard no noise...
it’s hard to say,
but anyway
I need your love.
There once was day,
I hid far away,
'Cause there was a crazy world out there,
and I was scared.

I need your love…
I need your love!
If there’s a crazy world out there,
I’ll be here! 🎶

This character was scrapped after a while, not because I didn’t love her. I really loved her character, but all her music doesn’t exist anymore except in a small file on my Google Drive from 2017. 🙄 I didn’t even finish the lyrics, but these are the only lyrics I remember.

The deeper voice on the second verse originally was supposed to be the male character singing it, but I scrapped that idea but since my computer crashed that fateful day, this is the only thing I have.

Doodles because I have nothing prepared

I’m feeling a bit better, y’all, but I haven’t made anything so y’all will see doodles and progress pics.

Here’s an attempt to draw Noje and design her body shape. The shape is fine, the face is AAAH. Noje has a very pretty body.
One of them is eye practice. One character has a face that rarely shows emotion but if he looks angry, it scares his kid but when he’s sad he’s really sad. It’s hard consistently drawing his face…oh well.

Sorry I do not have more, but this is the best I can do right now.

Random critique

I’m sick so I can’t do much art without feeling like trash, so I’m going to critique my old art.

Sadorno on a movie playing a character

This picture is cute, but I think I jacked up a lot of the stuff I was going for. I learned a valuable lesson when it comes to watercolors.

One thing, plan OUT THE PICTURE. In fact, that’s the only thing. I didn’t plan this out. I was watching a video on YouTube and I really liked the singing and the passion and thought it fit mildly with the idea of this character. I mostly was looking at the qualities of payne’s gray or some kinda neutral tint from QOR.

QOR is definitely nice for areas on the background , but I remember it doing what it always does in the front. Due to the pigment mixing in there, some of the colors separated when I painted with them causing a cool gray on one side and a warm gray on the other. Pretty, I guess, but unnecessary maybe.

This is supposed to look old—like an old movie. She’s an older actress and by the time of the character events, she’s old and in her seventies. So, I was trying to make the picture blurry on the face to remove “imperfections” and make it look like it’s outside. However, since I didn’t plan it, it wasn’t obvious. You can’t see the character she’s singing to or what she’s doing. The composition of my painting is a bit boring.

Here’s what I was watching at the time. It was a very interesting experience, but I love the emotion.

The song I listened to, and my character’s song is completely different, even in sound. Though, I do like how the film’s music sounds, I’m not sure if I have the music ability to learn how to do that.

Here’s Sadorno’s song

Here’s some of my music. ☺️ This piece is not finished. It takes me a while to write music with my schedule and as well, it’s a process. 🙂

I have nothing to post so story!

Solisi painted in quickly with ok paper and rushing (this isn’t recent!) you also can also see the pigment colors lol.
Those who know you wonder
if you hate them. If you
Hated yourself completely.
Where was your autonomy?
Born to look kissed by the sun,
Your skin looked soft. Delicate.
You were afraid, but you felt your
Family always had your back…

Yet, you turned away. Not out of hate. Not out of embarrassment.
You turned for passion and for
people to enjoy that passion.

They changed your shell which your soul remained and tried to change your insides—impossible.
You, sun baby, are strong even when you turned to the sun.
Now there’s two of you.
Two souls fighting to stay consciousness.
One, a sun baby—the other, the courageous sun.

You are not twins, nor opposites,
together as one.
One made by their creator—Nini and the other created by the servants of Bamy.
Be not confused, be not scared.
You live now in complexity.
As the complex, courageous sun baby.

I’ll post about this character when I draw the other ones. He’s a celebrity actor and not a main and some of the main characters enjoy the movies he’s in.

Random

As the day goes on, sometimes it’s very hard to draw so I’ll just show y’all some old pictures.

.

I know that people can look anyway they want and can do anything they want, but this art looks very white even though some of the characters aren’t white. If not, majority of them are Black or some type of Black mixture, however, I’m not sure how much of that is transferable. As well, the anatomy is … very dreadful. I love the character qualities, but if I’m not sure why I drew the characters looking so tiny.

I took a class in college called figure drawing. I’m not sure if it actually helped my art or I learned on my own while using the stuff brought up in class. Couldn’t tell you. The class happened during the pandemic, but my art looks different now.

I really like drawing faces only, but some people don’t find that interesting so I have to keep on drawing over and over until I can get decent anatomy. It really sucks knowing that I draw a lot, but not often and not anything finished. I can cope.

Flurisha is an oc I have and the last one who will be added to this chunk.

Just like Noshili, I will be adding a trigger warning here. If you are rightfully sensitive to child abuse and alcoholism, please do not go further. I will not get mad at you. It’s completely fine.

Art work!!!

Good evening!!! I have some sketches for y’all! I guess it correlates to Spooky Season because all the characters on here aren’t human! I dare say they’re probably closer to humanoid monsters.

Here’s some representation of Najigi skin, but it’s very unfinished.

Some characters are closer to human, but others aren’t. I tried putting family clusters together but I accidentally split characters up like Adelewe and Adexe. Oops. The clusters of families are Ane, Neheme(I believe), and the Nedeme family. One family to the right are associated with the Ane family, but they aren’t biologically related to them. It’s not all the characters.

This is a picture from a related side plot story (it’s unfinished and I forgot to paint his clothes, oops lol)

The picture above is of a character named Vivian (filler name). It’s a painting of a painting in this story. He’s a part of a AU side plot story where the original post apocalyptic plot happened but there was still leftover art. Vivian is an AI art program made by a female programmer placed into an male android by a male creator (don’t know what it’s called sorry). He is based off a venerated artist (that’s LOOSELY based on renaissance artists from this reality) and was made to mimic his art to teach a way to show process. Originally, he was just an arm looking robot thing, but the government received money and made him into a physical form and praiseable in person. Vivian was created then. He has interpretations and memories of the artist he’s based off of and has some of the programmers and designers features and personality quirks added to him.

One day, he receives some update that gives him a “soul” or a spirit—but it’s of course not a human spirit. That little brush of consciousness makes him unsatisfied with his art and ponders why he does it like that and why he feels controlled and why being alive hurts and feels terrible.

Side note

I can only write through my humanity and my idea of things—I’m not an AI nor do I know the experience of AI. You probably wonder why I’d have a character like this in the first place, but if people can write about other people, I can too.

On the other hand, an another artist, Hanzo /ɑ̃.ɮʊ/, is upset because he’s an obscure and irrelevant artist and gets mad at Vivian because he is basically so popular that his art is protected and is even angrier that he’s not a human so he tries to lose his humanity.

He goes with a friend to a dilapidated museum (not noted as a museum) to find bodies that are petrified by the apocalypse that happened some unnoted (my bad) time before the events. It ends up putting him on the top list for artists.

Anyway, he meets Vivian and clashes with him and invalidates his feelings. Vivian doesn’t really know what a human is but he doesn’t see himself as different but Hanzo sees him differently and it hurts his feelings because other people see him that way and kind of really hates being alive.

Since it takes a while to write and draw, mostly draw, I have not gotten up to the point where they become friends. This piece is a painting of Vivian in an environment done by Hanzo. Since this is not a real world and isn’t based on reality, some things just don’t make sense—but it’s actually supposed to be realistic to that environment because they’re just drawings and 2D characters and not based on real people. Doesn’t excuse me for messing up Vivian’s proportions. The only thing that I did on purpose was trying to make the piece look overworked, fussy, and lose life to it. As well, Vivian’s skin is yellow naturally as he’s supposed to look like an oil painting that came to life with the silliest looking blushed face that makes him read as non human. I would normally never draw a landscape like this, but I was more so trying to use only horizontal lines.

Thank you for reading this far. If you have any questions or just wanna hear more, leave a comment.

Sketches

Hihi, y’all. I forgot to post some sketches! Oops!

A very “interesting” unfinished drawing of a previously mentioned character with the filler name Federico playing his character Dell from a movie. I haven’t got to coloring it.

I ended up drawing full on Noje last night because I needed to draw her body out more. It will not go on her main page because it has lack of arms.

I’m considering doing some more art in hopes that I can draw these characters more because they are lacking! Also, I’m lacking in color studies so I probably need to do those too.

🎶Aha! Yes!
We meet again,
You stand in front of me,
No longer a friend!🎶

🎶Aha! Yes!
Why are you here?
You wanted to leave,
And now you’re back for a jeer!🎶

🎶Aha, my friend,
My enemy or love,
I didn’t mean to hurt you and act like a bum.
These nights of solitude made me come back,
I don’t really think I deserve all the flack!🎶

🎶We were once something special and I want it again,
And I want that something special and not feel like I deigned.
Ah, my lover!
You’ve made me to a fool,
All I ever wanted was someone like you.🎶

🎶We once were something stressful and it sucked out my soul,
I didn’t think I wanted to keep up with this until I was old.
I still want to be friends in all of this mess.
I still think you’re great and I wish for the best!🎶

Why did you come here and say that to mention?

🎶I came over here for your attention!🎶

🎶Aha! An idiot, a coward, ugh you are so brash!
You took my heart and put it in the trash!
I’ve sat here and thought it was me all along…🎶

I know, darling, that that was wrong.
I’m sorry.

Here’s some “thumbnail” sketches for y’all!

I wanted to draw at least one picture finished or not of Nejame and Neloni interacting since they are married.

The second one is a picture of Nejame younger (because there’s a storyline of him around the age of 25-30 that I have) to show his hair style and how he holds his face as well as trying to get his proportions right. It is difficult giving older, male characters big eyes or they end up looking feminine and young.

A earlier drawing I did of Nejame

The picture above is cute, but it’s a little flat in the profile section and rendered the picture useless and mildly embarrassing, as well, it’s very difficult for me to render that face so I redrew it. I think the hair looks better on the older one, but the best part about having more than one picture is that you can combine both as a reference.

I’m going to go back to my sketchbook for the three characters I posted about and will redraw them.

I’m going to give you a warning now. Some of the contents of this character has trigger inducing and stressful content. It’s okay not to read it and I won’t get mad. Please, for your own discretion, if you cannot deal with racism, CSA, CPTSD, or similar topics, take a breath and do not keep reading on.

This warning may not seem like a big deal now, but when I update characters, I will have this warning.

Have mercy on me. Bodies can be very difficult to draw. Just know that the head is big on accident and the shoulders just aren’t balanced. This character has bigger shoulders than this.

Nedeme Adelewe

Nedeme Adelewe is one of my characters. Adelewe is the first name and Nedeme is their last name. Their mom’s last name is Nedeme because her grandmother was born in Nedeme and she chose to keep that name. Their first name is a namesake of a notable figure in Najigi culture—Newe—but translated in their culture as that. Adelewe is a gender neutral name. I have not given the name a translation as of now.

Anyway, Adelewe was born on an island named Ane to a female Ane-Ne Najigi named Adele and a male human (of course, not a human like us) named Daarz Yargaad (or Adaarse in Ane). A second child to Adexe, the first born (they’re a female).

Ane culture is very hostile to outsiders, so, after Daarz married and had a child with Adele, he was exiled from his culture who is nearby and equally as hostile after colonization. Since Ane is a very small island, Daarz mostly stayed on boats. Adelewe, however, was born on land.

Around five years old, Ane and Ne were trying to seal a contract again to ask if Ne could give a person for their children to marry and continue the throne (Ane is different from Ne culture with royalty), so Adelewe was picked to be with Ane Noje, however, when the children were going to meet for the first time with their parents and ended up causing a fatal accident where both sides lose their parents. Noje gets saved but Adelewe gets lost somewhere and ends up washing up on shore on Bamygdala around five and they were unable to return.

In Ane, their sister was looking for them, but Adelewe was in the Bamy-Ala (Bamy states). In Bamygdala, however, Adelewe receives the equivalent of a Christian name (I haven’t made them one yet, just usually I just call them Julio) and lives with their brother Zan (shan) and Zan’s very young mom. Adelewe doesn’t fit into the environment well and deals with very unfortunate circumstances, but deals with it anyway.

This is Adelewe in a cultural An performance costume

After a year, Zan’s mother abandoned them for a man, but they found a safe parent to adopt them.

Adelewe’s personality can be described as a person someone could really love, or someone someone could truly despise. They have a limited amount of friends and a limited amount of people they associate with and tend to be introverted but come off as extremely extroverted and cheerful. They can be extremely argumentative at times or rude and callous but in other times, extremely nice.

Like some of their other friends, they collect dolls. Typically, Adelewe loves to collect art books/sketchbooks/books, memories, and other people’s stuff. Typically people do not argue with Adelewe for stealing their stuff and find it charming and goofy except their parent. They also tend to have a lot of maps in their room. They’re one of the few characters that have very neat handwriting. Like Noje, they study art but are much more prone to dwell into different types of art and experiment with different types.

Adelewe in a typical An everyday outfit designed to fit a triad palette 😊

Adelewe walks on their tip-toes, speaks with high (due to their voice coming from their mom), shrill, but raspy voice and if standing—can stand in a pose for a while. They have a gait that causes them to trip if they walk or fall down due to it being uneven. They frequently do not emote with their eyes and usually emote with their nose, lips, and posture. This character almost always is drawn to be emotionally stiff, like always in a fun pose but it’s uncannily not human like (as they aren’t a human anyway).

Adelewe has a very clean, but cluttered room and cleans it frequently with chemicals—which is some kind of coping mechanism. They will spend hours—if frustrated—cleaning a place. If they have to stay somewhere without the place feeling clean they will get very irritable and will start arguing and pleading but if they can’t fix it they’ll just shut down. If people ask for them to clean their room they don’t care, but if they have to sit in it, they’ll be upset.

They also cannot sing very well but can hold a tune which makes them stick out a lot more than other characters.

I will update this later.

Random story

Honestly, I’m struggling to draw well due to depression so I won’t be doing that. I will write randomly.

I sat on my bed, thinking of what happened. The same thoughts over and over; I didn’t cry, I didn’t scream. I looked to my left of my room—all my notebooks laid in a pile…there was so much potential inside of them, many great thoughts and ideas…however, it was nothing. Nothing at all. I looked to my right and saw my assignments that I’ve done that I hated.

Seeing these objects broke me into tears and anger. I pulled out an utility knife and slashed through the canvas until it was sliced to pieces. Small memories of what it was before, leaving only the wood. It was cathartic.

I went through my art supplies to find my glue.

Ane Noje

The character I will be writing about today is Ane Noje. /ɝ̃ nɔ̃.dʒɚ/. She is a character I had for an extremely long time. She was created to be in a story about some explorers/colonizers that came to her island and after a while, stripped her from her island. However, I scrapped the story because I despised it after a while.

Anyway, Noje is her first name, Ane is her surname. It was given through her dad. The most feminine person of the relationship usually gets say if they want their last name chosen, but since she was born a Ne royal (she’s pretty far back and will never be the main royal, she is just royal by proxy unless she leaves, once her uncle dies, her family won’t be royal. I’ll explain on a new post.) she keeps her name.

Noje was born Ane Naahale [nɑ.ɦɑ˞.ʟɚ] in Ne with her twin sibling None. She was named by her father, Ane Nedale [ne˞.da˞.ʟɚ] and her mom, Nadine [nɑ˞.di.nɚ]. She is directly named after her grandparent, Ane Naahale. She is a fantasy species I made up called Najigi [ˈna.dʒeɪ.ɡeɪ]. They are semiaquatic to aquatic humanoid people that can live on land but also may live underwater. Typically they have huge eyes, are extremely tall, pitch dark skin, hair that coils when they go underwater, bioluminescence they can turn on with squeezing in their stomach or rolling their eyes back. She is an An and Ne Najigi that leans towards more Ne.

She is noticeably tall, very dark, and has long, straight hair due to a trait from her grandparent, Naahale’s side. Since she has straight hair, it doesn’t coil all that much when she needs to swim and gets tangled underwater. However, she doesn’t cut it and may wear it in a bun. She has An scarification on her face (nose, cheeks, and neck) and down her body. She chose to get it on her body when she turned 14.

Her grandparents are Nejame and Naahale. Naahale is from An, and Nejame is from Ne. Her father is mixed with An and Ne and her mom is Ne so her Najigi traits lean more towards Ne thus making her into a lot more hot climates, but her body shape is closer to an An Najigi (slightly chubby, longer torso, and smaller eyes). She lost her parents in a tragic boat accident when they were going to An to marry her off to a royal at the age of five and it traumatizes her to this day. She was raised by her grandpa, Nejame, who she has a terrible relationship with.

She moved to Bamygdala when she turned twelve with her two sisters, Nemene and None and her grandpa Nejame. When she moved her name was (the equivalent of christened) changed to Nadina Sini /nɑ.ɖɪˈ.nː ɬɪnɪ/. She doesn’t struggle with language learning but she struggles with respecting people and listening to them talk. She frequently talks passionately and will shout out over someone when they’re talking to her. She also talks extremely loud and moves a lot.

She is a painter and she uses oil paint for her paintings.

I updated some parts of her look based on mod fashion as of 22/9/22.

Her personality is described as very goofy and ditzy, but nice. She talks very loud (sometimes having the tendency to scream) and animated and has a tendency to talk over people without recognizing that she’s doing it. She’s also a speed talker, if she’s happy she talks fast, if she’s angry she talks extremely fast, if she’s excited she yells and talks fast. If she’s sad, she doesn’t talk at all and if she does talk, it’s small and short words. She is a listener but once she talks, she won’t stop talking.

She loves the color yellow and always manages to put it on and surround herself in colors that are analogous to yellow. She enjoys putting on makeup and different types of clothes of any gender. She is terrified of a lot of terrestrial animals but especially dogs and cats. If someone is nice to her, she’ll have temporary infatuation with them. She also has the tendency to goof around and tease people and has a very flirtatious and sometimes creepy tone to her voice that many people either really like or they find her creepy and weird.

She has very good eye contact when talking and will move her body or will duck to see if you’re listening to her or and if you look at her and do stutters and pauses to make sure you look at her and listen.

Will update her later.
